Faculty rules and bye-laws

At a special general meeting at Merchants Hall, Edinburgh on Monday 16 February 2004, the Faculty approved two resolutions to introduce amendments to its rules and bye-laws.

The first of these resolutions revised Rules 8 and 9 concerning elections to Council of new ordinary members. As a consequence of these changes the Faculty secretary, on behalf of Council, shall write in the near future to all members inviting nominations of candidates for an election at the ordinary general meeting on 28 June 2004. All nominations must be proposed and seconded by members of the Faculty and must show the nominee’s willingness to stand for election. The amendments also introduce the facility for members to cast their votes by proxy.

The second amendment introduced a new Rule 56 to introduce explicit indemnity for those carrying out duties undertaken on behalf of the Faculty.
