Sign up for member interest groups

To date 1560 members have expressed interest in the 12 current member interest groups.

The Profession wants to gauge the level of interest to establish five new groups, which have been suggested by individual members. You can find details of all current and new groups at www.actuaries.org.uk/members/migs

> Chinese Regional Society. This group, of potential interest to Chinese students, people with a background or interest in China, or actuaries living and working in China, seeks to provide opportunities for members to meet on a professional and social basis, and to provide informal examination support for those following the UK actuarial syllabus.

> Welsh Regional Society. This group, of potential interest to actuaries with a background or interest in Wales, or living and working in Wales, would provide professional and social networking opportunities for its members.

> Gibraltar Regional Society. There is a small but growing actuarial community in Gibraltar. The focus of work for actuaries here tends to fall within the general insurance practice area. This group would be of potential interest to actuaries working in Gibraltar, and could work towards planning business-related events and seminars.

> Mergers and Acquisitions (Pensions). This group would focus on pensions issues in corporate transactions, with the objective of improving the quality of advice given in relation to mergers and acquisitions. It is likely to be of interest to members working in this field in either corporate or private equity.

> Solvency II for private medical insurance. This group is likely to be of interest to actuaries working in the field of private medical insurance. The group wants to provide an online discussion forum to share information and knowledge among members.

All members can join an existing or new group. Membership of member interest groups is open to all, and you can join more than one group.

If you would like to join an existing or new group, visit the members’ section of the Profession’s website at www.actuaries.org.uk/members and update your profile within the transactions and personal information section, or e-mail migs@actuaries.org.uk
